Changing our minds was about the fact that we can not expect someone to change their minds with a simple conversation. Deeply held beliefs are hard to change but  that does not mean a conversation shouldn’t happen. ” And a good deal of what we intuitively take to be right. We take to be right because it is what we are used to.” (Appiah 52) This quote notes what he is saying. We all have deeply held beliefs that would be hard to change, so if you are going into a conversation about  these beliefs then you have to expect their minds not to change. ” Understanding one another may be hard; it can certainly be interesting. But it doesn’t require that we come to agreement.” (Appiah 55) Appiah is saying that these conversations should continue, however we just have to understand each other not agree with their view points.
